Wellman Engineering Resins’ Wellamid Product Line of nylon resins has proven to consistently meet the most demanding injection molding applications.  This Product Line’s broad range of semi-crystalline thermoplastic polyamides include unfilled, reinforced and impact modified grades of Nylon 66, Nylon 6 and Nylon 66/6 co-melts

Wellamid

Glass Reinforced Nylon 6

Glass fiber is used for reinforcing nylon 6 for various injection molding applications which require high modulus, tensile and impact strength. The addition of glass fiber improves HDT and dimensional stability while reducing mold shrinkage and cycle time.

Various loadings ranging from 10 - 60 % are commonly used to meet a specific end use requirement.

 

Wellamid

Impact Modified, Glass Reinforced Nylon 6

Injection molding grades based upon thermoplastic polyamide 6 reinforced with glass fiber and impact modifier features a nice balance of impact resistance and overall strength and stiffness properties.

Nylon 6 provides a "resin-rich" surface finish so the glass fiber will not be as visible on the molded part surface making these grades suitable for highly cosmetic parts that require high strength and impact resistance.

 

Wellamid

Mineral Reinforced Nylon 6

Wellman uses a combination of particulate and fibrous shaped mineral to reinforce nylon 6 for improved dimensional stability and stiffness at elevated temperatures. The increased stiffness reduces drag resistance seen during mold ejection which allows the injection molded article to be ejected sooner, reducing overall cycle time during processing.

15 - 40% loadings are typical. The addition of mineral to nylon 6 increases the HDT and also reduces cycle time when compared to unfilled nylon. Mineral reinforced PA6 is often used for automotive wheel covers and for painted parts.
